  1. crop it, then size it

  2. no that is not possible. If you want to resize a picture from its ORIGINAL size to make it bigger with good quality, you can't.

Your just stretching it and you can't. no possible way... i think

  3. I use this program called gimp to do it. Gimp is capable of scaling images while keeping the quality of the pictures and it's free.

If you're not familiar with image editing programs like gimp, then I'll assist you step by step.

1.) Open the image through Gimp.

2.)Make a new transparent layer on top of the 'background' layer by clicking on the plus sign at the bottom of the layer window.

3.) Copy and paste the background' layer by either using keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C for copy, Ctrl+V for paste) or the edit menu.

4.) Anchor the floating layer onto the new layer that you've created earlier on.

5.) Select the scaling tool and click on the image. A window should pop up; enter the value of the size of the pic you want it to be.(If you made your picture larger than the canvas size, just simply click on the 'view' menu and go to 'canvas size...' There you can change the the canvas size by entering the values bigger than your picture.

6.)  After that, auto crop the image by clicking on 'view' and click on 'autocrop'.

7.)  Save your image in any format you want. (I recommend the .png  format because it can keep the file size of your image to its minimum and also keeps the quality of your image.
