Is there any way to retrieve a lost Olympic medal?

A former Olympian I know, who competed in the 1960 Games in Rome, has lost his Olympic medals. By an instance of misfortune and vindictive behaviour, they were stolen by someone he knew, and were never returned. Is there a body that can be contacted regarding getting them replaced, or even getting replicas?

Yes the make replicas. I have one. I got mine by donating to the olympic committee.

If your talking about Muhammed Ali who won a gold medal in rome and threw it in a river after being critisized by whites already has a replacment one.
