  1. SOME BREEDERS SCREEN THEIR CLIENTS.  YOU MIGHT ASK ONE OF THEM HOW THEY DO IT.  ASK IF YOU CAN PUT A NOTE ON A CHURCH MESSAGE BOARD.

    GOOD LUCK !!!

  2. there are a lot of questionable people out there that respond to free animal adds. some sell them to companies for tests, along with other unspeakable things.your best bet is to set up your own "adoption fee" to deter these people.

thats a good article that will help you place your kittens.

  3. Sometimes it really difficult to judge a potential kitty home because of course people will tell you what you want to hear.   It helps if you can deliver the kitty to the new home, you can tell a lot by seeing the home and talking face to face.  Its also good if you can talk to the children in the house.  Unless they've been coached children are usually glad to tell you about pets they've had before.

  4. my little boy was born 12/17!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you can only go by what they say - no way to really screen them.  if you get bad vibes, or they come with a car load of little children - say NO.  ask them about their other pets, what vet they use, what they will feed the kitten, will it be inside or outside, do they plan on getting the kitten fixed  (anything to clue you in if they actually planned on taking care of these kittens....).

if you feel comfortable, have them give you their address so you could potentially "check up" on the kittens.  if they refuse, there might be a problem.

get the momma cat spayed ASAP so you don't have to do this again!!!!

  5. Ask for personal references, and a vet reference - and then check them!  Also do not offer them for free, charge a nominal fee of $20-25.   This will discourage the people looking for snake food and fighting dog bait, as well as the bunchers who take free pets to sell to research labs.

  6. Are there any farm or ranches around where you live. Farmers will take kittens to keep them as mice controllers and most farmers will feed cats and kittens and sometimes set up a home for them in the barn.

  7. unless you know these potential takers personally, it's really hard to tell.  maybe you can limit it to people that your friends and family know and you can be updated on the kittens' progress.
