Is there any way to stop my modem from reading my Usage?

ok i have 12GB of Usage i use it all in a week i ask my mum to put it up to 60GB but she won't is there any way to stop my modem from reading my Usage i don't care if i get caught.

  1. No because the isp reads your usage, not your modem. If you hacked in your isp's servers you could stop the servers from reading your usage.

    You could try using a different DNS like http://www.opendns.com/

    Then it might be harder for them to track you as you are not using theirs.


  2. Sorry - it's not the modem that reads your usage, it's the router at the ISP's office. That is where your traffic is tracked (because it all passes through here) and the information is passed to the account server, where the data is totaled and stored.

    Trying to hack around this system is:

    1. Sure to be detected

    2. Sure to be traced

    3. A sure way to learn about the law from the wrong side of the cell bars.

    It's not worth it

    FYI - Using a different DNS does not do a thing - your data still goes through the ISP's router and is still seen. There's just more of it because now you are going outside the network to get a different DNS server
