I started my period yesterday and started Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo today. Will starting birth control stop my period? If not, will taking 2 pills for one day stop it?

  1. DO NOT take two at a time unless you have missed one. Ortho Low has such a low dose the 1st week that NO it will not stop your period

  2. No, it won't. I suggest going on DepoProvera (the shot) instead. I received the shot when I got my period and it had ceased by the end of the day.

  3. highly doubtful your period is like an internal flushing of your system it may be a pain but its a good thing anyway some birthcontrol says you'll only have like four periods a year but you could still have bleeding inbetween nothing is 100% talk to your doctor or nurse they'll have answers for you

  4. Nope.

And DO NOT go against what the prescription tells you to.  Don't take two pills for one day unless the doctor said so.

You cannot stop a period that is already started.

I also do not recommend depo provera, many women suffer many serious health issues with it, like bone health loss and infertility, among other things.  Check out their reviews at http://www.rateitall.com
