Question:

Is there any way to tell TiVo to "pause" recording for a set time?

I'm moving and will be without cable service for about 4 days as a result. I want to hook up my TiVo and be able to watch recorded content, but I don't want it to keep taping black nothingness for those 4 days. Does TiVo know if it is getting a cable signal? Or can I manually tell it to take a vacation for 4 days?

  1. Go into the channel options and uncheck every channel except for one you never watch. If you really want to get to work, you could hook up a bunny ears antenna and set up the tivo to record from that. I don't suggest unplugging it when you don't watch it because that'll damage the hard drive.

  2. I know you can manually turn tivo on and off, but I don't know if will keep off when scheduled to record.

I'd try to unplug the phone line or ethernet line, whichever provides your tivo with info and see if it continues to show programs using the guide button.

    Good luck.
