Is there any way to totally scramble a Rubik's cube (no matching adjacent sides)?

When I scramble my Rubik's cube, there is always somewhere on the cube where there are adjacent sides with matching colours (two sides of the same colour next to each other). However much I try, I can't change this. Is it not possible to do?
