Is there any way to turn canned vanilla frosting into chocolate frosting?

I went to the store, but they had no chocolate frosting left, so I got the vanilla frosting. I was thinking of melting some semisweet chocolate squares and adding milk to it, then mixing that into the vanilla frosting. will this work? any other way that has been tried and worked?

  2. its easy, take Coco powder and add it to the frosting, you then have chocolate frosting. You might need to add a bit more powdered sugar but thats it. Other wise chocolate frosting from scratch isnt hard. Get Ghiradelli coco powder for making from scratch, it seems to have better results then any other Ive tried.

    Good luck

  3. you could add some cocoa to it, start with about 1 tsp and keep adding til its just right

  4. I would just suggest to add the chocolate to the frosting because the milk could change the texture of the frosting. Adding to much water to it. You could add cream, because cream thicken up after mixing it for a while, but just add in the melted chocolate and you will be fine. Fold it in together. Don't stir. By stirring you add in alot of extra air. So its better to fold. Like How you would fold in melted chocolate in whip cream. =] yum!

  5. Sure! That would turn out just fine. I've done it with milk chocolate chips, but I'm sure if you add a little milk it'll take the bitter right out of it.
