Question:

Is there any way we can stop making plastic?

any other alternative becuase my mind is ravcked and the damge its doing and how hard it is to destroy!

  1. oddly enough  plastic is better in land fills than paper [which it replaced]  its stable and doesnt leach into soil...and it saves trees...


  2. Many companies are making plastic out of corn! Here's an example of a bank that uses corn to make plastic credit cards:

  3. Yes, we can make plastic, or some sort of it from corn, or some part of it. I've seen it on How It's Made. The plastic replacer is organic and degrades easyer. BU I don't think we humans are going to do it any soon, sadly...

  4. Plastic is REALLY useful. Unless you can come up with a good substitution for it, you will not be able to stop making it.

    As to the previous poster's mention of plastic made from corn, I spent a couple of days troubleshooting a plant in Nebraska that makes poly-lactic acid from corn. It's an interesting process, but I don't think it would be any more degradable than synthetic poly-lactic acid. Remember, when you're talking about plastic, it's a wide range of materials with vastly different properties for use in many different applications.
