You need to be more specific.  Are the dead or alive?  If they are dead, did they die in the 1900s or 1800s?  There are different ways for different situations.  Someone who died after 1960 may be found on the social security death index.  Someone who was living between 1850 and 1930 may be found on the census records.  Also, if it is someone who has been dead 100 or more years, they may show up on the internet in someone else's family tree with that information.  If they are still living, you are not going to find that information on the internet.
