I always use www.weather.com.  Enter in your zip code, find the tab that says radar map & click that.  Then it'll show you current storms in your area & their severity.  I work as a secretary @ a roofing company so we check it often for the crews that are putting on roofs.  However, it's not 100% accurate.  It's kind of like a laser pointer - it stays at the same height & rotates in a circle & "maps" the changes.  Sometimes the clouds are either higher or lower than the height the sensor is set at so even though it's raining, there may be nothing on the radar screen.  It's very helpful to us though, so maybe this will help you too!
