Hmm. never thought of it before,however, i've never questioned why there are not any african-american swimmers either, my guess is that the choices were based on solid play, as well as name recognition, and a little dazzle as well.

Malcom X mother was white but white people will never claim him to be white. If u have a mix of black in u then u are considered black period. Jason kidd and Deron Williams have white mothers and black fathers. Tayshawn Prince is black.

Team US has no white Americans on the team this go around. Mike Miller was suposed to be but they cut him.

All the good white players in the NBA are not from the US.

The last white American to make a NBA all star team was Mike Miller

Currently no there is not any, in 2004 there was Mike Miller, i guess the closest to white would be Jason Kidd and Deron Williams. However, i believe they are of black decent. You also have Carlos Boozer who was born in West Germany, but nope no white americans.

white players have stopped playing basketball for a variety of reasons. Reason one is probably the decided slant that coaches at all levels (HS and College in particular) have towards the african american athlete. Few  white kids get the same shot as comparable african american kids due to this. many white kids have left the sport for others in response. it's sad it has come to this. the same could be said about sports like baseball and golf in reverse. the opportunities are just not there.

The few white superstars in the NBA are almost all from outside of the US.  Nowitzki, Gasol, Nash

If you count being partially white, then there are players like Jason Kidd. That's because there aren't really any white american superstars in the nba.

No, there aren't any white americans on the team. Why should it matter? They are all representing America and doing a good job at it. I never really noticed that there were no caucasians on the team.

Is Jason Kidd white? I can't tell. Other then him I don't think there isn't anyone else. Probably because the best players in our league are African American. They're just a more athletic race. Not being racist at all, for i'm white too. There are great white players in the NBA just not has many.

None are worthy to be on the team. The only white players with greatness are from other countries. Not many white kids play basketball anymore. They are not great finishers like the black athlete. A lot of whites in the NBA are decent three point shooters. But a 3-point shot will only fall at 40% of the time, at best, in basketball. Its like that in every sport. I can't think of any popular sport that whites dominate anymore, besides hockey (blacks can't skate).

-Jason Kidd is just as much White as he is Black, considering his Mother is White, and his Father is Black.

-Most of the good "White" players currently in the NBA are international player's, therefore they are representing other countries.

To that person that said there was a slant:

There is no "slant" towards black players at any level as suggested by one person above.  Give me some evidence.  Everyone is given the same opportunity, and white people aren't good at everything.  You can be mad when minorities take over hockey, but basketball has traditionally been Black Americans and now white/Hispanic/Asian international players.  Try and name one white person that deserves to be on Team USA and we'll all know that you're lying.  (Nash is Canadian).
