Is there anyone at direct tv that can understand my mother is dead (1 yr) and can cancel her account?

I have been sending monthly letters trying to cancel A phone call said she wasn't under contract then later we are uder contract...good lord knows I have been trying to get this done for a year.Now the last letter says they don't know how to contact me....

  1. notify directv IN WRITING of the situation. Recount all the trouble you've had. Question: are you still getting directv? Once you've notified them, if they continue to give you their product, it's at their expense, and personally, i would refuse payment. If they have continued the service and you pay the bill every month (even though your mother is still listed as account holder), then of course they won't want to help you. Oh, and keep all correspondence with them, do everything in writing, so you have a record of your cancellation attempts. Once they figure out you (maybe) are getting "free" service, they'll stop and finally get their act together.


  2. Call them at 800-347-3288. Explain to first person. If he/she can't help then ask for a supervisor.  Different situation, but I once had to spend an hour talking to 4 different people before they fixed the mistake.

    You will probably have to mail a copy of the death certificate or they will send a form to be filled out. But at least you will know WHO to send it to so you can get this taken care of.
