Since three years ago, I have been taking serious thought on utilising Airborne Algae in mitigating global warming. I currently created my website using google sites and a discussion group using google groups.

  1. Most studies of these algae show that they thrive in specific altitude ranges, above which they drop off quite quickly.  The absolute altitude of that maximum is a function of latitude, but even near the equator, you don't find C. nivalis on the glaciers all the way up the highest peaks.  The point being that while these organisms are cold and UV tolerant, the stratospheric environment is much harsher than anything found on an alpine peak.  Ozone concentrations are high, the UV flux is enormous, and the temperature at mid-point is on order of 230 K, far below what is typically found on an alpine glacier.  (Higher up, where the temperature is warmer, the UVA/B flux is so high your algae wouldn't stand a chance.)

Your plan will result in a lot of energy wasted spraying algae into the stratosphere that will be flash frozen instantly, and then sterilized by the UV flux, before the ice evaporates and ozone oxidizes the cells of the algae back to more CO2 and water vapor.

I know I'm not going to persuade you of this, but these are just a few of the simpler technical objections to your plan.  Any one of the three is a show-stopper, the three together makes the idea implausible even for a bad science fiction movie.

  2. There is a problem with your plan.  Algae lives in water.  Personally breathing algae doesn't sound like such a great idea to me.

  3. The Algae argument is good, but since most CO2 is absorbed in water,  Water borne Algae makes more sense,

  4. "mitigating global warming"?

    WTF???????????

GLOBAL WARMING HAS OCCURED ABOUT EVERY 10,000 YEARS.  BEFORE HUMANS WALKED THE PLANET, GLOBAL WARMING STILL OCCURED.  WHEN MAN IS GONE, GLOBAL WARMING WILL STILL OCCUR.

Mitigate??????? - Well, you must have also a good plan to reduce the sun's energy & the planets cyclic weather patterns & the release of earths natural methane gases. Afterall, I'd be wasting my time telling you of these universal elements that also must be mitigated in order to directly deal with global warming as they are the elements THAT ACTUALLY CAUSE GLOBAL WARMING for the last 10,000 years of proven science. Mitigate that!
