Is there anyone out there is a chemical Eng?

i have a great thing to try with cars or truck. now the thing that i know about gas is the vabor is the thing that burn right so if we heat the gas and pump off the top so you could be burning vabor not raw gas if this can get done answer me back.

  1. Hi,

    I suppose by gas you mean gasoline. Now if you want to convert gasoline (liquid) to vapor you will first heve to heat it. Where are you gonna get this energy to boil gasoline. Also gasoline is burnt in the form of tiny droplets which behave as vapor. You might be knowing that, a engine is working good if its burner/combustion chamber burns all the fuel and very little fuel goes out as carbon monoxide or unburnt fuel. In gasoline engines, there is very little carbon monoxide and no unburnt fuel so it normally works good. Also there is some initial power required for engine to start, if you convert gasoline to vapor, then the size of engine will increase tremendously. So, your suggestion can be worked upon but it will have no benifits and following drawbacks:

    1. Waste of heat to convert gasoline to vapor

    2. Bigger size of burner/engine

    3. Costly option
