  1. If you know the address try contact the town/city/county's chamber of commerence and they might be able to get you in touch with the historical society or genealogical society in the town or county. If you have to do a yahoo search and the send an email the the Chamber. It has worked for me before. Good luck

  2. Probably not, frankly. Most death records are by name, not place.

You'd have to dig through old city directories to find out who lived there, then look at the death recrods for the town to see if anyone by that surname had died in the town, then go to old newspapers on microfilm and look up the obituaries to see where they died.

Even then, if someone's cousin, niece, nephew, friend was murdered by a psychopath with a long sharp knife who crashed the sleepover, and the poor child's ghost still waits for his parents to come and take him home, hoping it was all a mistake, you'd never find him/her via that route.

My grandmother died peacefully in her bed at the age of 93, a month after her husband my grandfather died at a rest home. I doubt the people who bought her house from the people who bought her house know someone died in the middle bedroom in November 1989.

She may come back now and again to make sure the dwarf tea rose she planted from cuttings her mother sent her by train is still doing well, but I don't think she spends much time there.

If your house is more than 150 years old, chances are good several people died in it. Exactly who would take a lot more research than five clicks.
