My father is going to be passing soon, so we're arranging everything now. On the prayer card we wanted to put 'Blood is thicker than water' cause it was his most used quote besides the millions of times he quoted JFK. So, can someone translate that to Gaelic for me?

  1. Because you mention JFK I presume you want Irish as opposed to Scots or Manx (Welsh is not a Gaelic language).

Is tiubhe fuil ná uisce = Blood is thicker than water

    Or

Is tiúcha fuil ná uisce = Blood is thicker than water

It is something a native speaker would say

  2. Irish, Scottish, or Welsh?

    In Irish:

"Aithníonn an fhuil a chéile" is the" authentic" Irish version.  It means blood recognizes its own.

"Is tibhe fuil ná uisce" is more common, but its a direct english translation and no native speaker would say that.

Can't help you with the others.
