Is there anyone to stop Frankel?
Horseracing has seen plenty of great horses, and the unbeaten star of Sir Henry Cecil, Frankel, is definitely one of them. It seems there is no one who can put a full stop to his winning journey.
Continuing his ruthless march, the 4-year-old secured 14th consecutive victory earlier this month. The conditions were no easy, as there was a lot of moisture in Royal Ascot’s surface.
Yet, he did not face any trouble whatsoever in grabbing the big prize in the Group 1, Qipco Champion Stakes. Under his regular jockey Tom Queally, the 2-11 favourite started slowly. Despite a lazy start, there was no worry in Frankel’s camp, because everyone
had full trust in his ability to make smooth progress.
Not letting his supporters down, the big fellow recovered well, and cruised to lead well before the final furlong. Cirrus Des Aigles came up with a serious challenge in the final stages, but nothing worked for Mme C Barande-Barbe’s charge.
Frankel retained his advantage until the finishing line, and eventually seized the top rank easily by 1¾ lengths. It was surely more than an impressive act, and the whole crew expressed enormous delight over another big win.
"He's the best I've ever had and the best I've ever seen," said Cecil. "I'd be very surprised if there's ever been better."
The rider was equally happy, and stated after the race: "I'm so proud of him. It's been an amazing journey and I can't tell you what it means to be part of it. He was a bit slowly away at York and slow today, but I've so much belief in him. We lost a length,
but that's nothing to him. I can think of harder things. It's amazing. There is pressure, but I'll gladly take it."
Frankel has already established himself as one of the greats of all time. He has not stopped yet, and would surely offer more in the days to come. His stats are so good that it looks an impossible task for the rest to stop him from winning.
The horseracing lovers have seen many upsets, and would witness more this season, but Frankel’s beating is unlikely. It looks that the rest of the world does not have even one good enough horse to challenge Frankel.
