Is there anyone who can tell me where i can find out about edwin priestley from yorkshire england,?

edwin priestley was my great grandfather, i have been doing my family history since 2004, I ahve hit a brick wall, what i know about him is, his parents were ezra priestley, and hannah (?). He had siblings, he was married to Louisa ratcliffe Marriage date 1908 registered Rochdale.He was extremly abusive to her and the children Olive, and Arthur. Great grandmother left him and came to Canada in 1925. Edwin stayed in England, He also in 1901 census was listed as a stone merchant traveller. He committed suicide circa 1945, by putting his head in the gas cooker in his kitchen,. I would greatly appreciate any ideas, or suggestions, or hearing from anyone,.who might know anything about him. he was born 1874 wibsey yorks, thankyou so much in advance. Susan Priestley Langley

This is what I have found for you so far, this is the index for the  1881 census.  Edwin is recorded as a 7 year old scholar, Ezra his dad is *warper dresser* which means  he works in the textile industry. Hannah is an housewife. Emanuel Lumb is recorded as a *gardener* ,  it gives his relationship to the head of the family *Ezra* as brother in-law, and their home address is Clayton Lane, Clayton.
