Question:

Is there anyone who doesn't think man caused climate change and global warming? (like me)?

Myself, i believe that man didn't, I kinda think that the big red hot sun thingy many times the size of the earth might have the major impact. I also recently watched "The Great Global Warming Swindle" which seemed to confirm my suspicions with raw hard data. Is there anyone out there that also believes man had little impact in Climate Change or Global Warming?

  1. I believe the earth goes in a cycle, just like a lot of everything else does.  I just watched a program on earthquakes in the pacific northwest and Japan.  "The ring of fire" is responsible for the earthquakes and tsunamis, but could also be the reason for glacier melting.  The Lava is very close to the surface in some places, closer than they thought before.

  2. It must all nice warm and fuzzy living the way you are in a world of ignorance with plenty of denial sprinkled on top.

Mikira, I suppose that cancer is a good thing too eh?

  3. Yes, there are plenty of people like you who see the big picture: There are a lot of things, scientific and not, contributing to this issue.

1.) Accuracy of thermometers, number of thermometers, and attention to data has increased greatly over time.

2.) Carbon dioxide is the most insignificant greenhouse gas, and there's less than 1% of it in our atmosphere.  All other greenhouse gasses are rated in terms of "X times more effective than carbon dioxide."

3.) The Earth has a geologic record of hot times and cold times.  We are in an interglacial cycle in North America, so temperatures should have increased.

4.) Plants grow faster with increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

5.) Fossil fuels are preserved 'garbage' from organisms that came before us.  If they didn't have a use, they'd just be toxic sludge.  We're just cleaning it up.

6.) Solar output has slightly increased.

Unfortunately everyone's concerned with the small picture - the hockey stick model that says we're all doomed.  I bet during the next ice age people will be laugh at our silly ideas.

  4. I concur most whole heatedly.   Of course i have a brain that I use, unlike some who mindlessly follow the crowd.

  5. For me the evidence that it is hyped comes constantly from the alarmists who fret over a warm day.   Warmth is the giver of life.  When it is cold, animals and plants struggle to survive.  Warmth has become a dirty word to these paranoids.  It is really pathetic that so many people have bought into this bilge.

  6. I would like to know why scientists can't find a reason to blame global warming on people thousands of years ago when the earth had climate changes? Maybe they knew how to recycle there SUV's better back then, and no I think the hype is about money and taxes.

  7. Yes, there are lots of others who are also seeking validation of their denial.

Seriously, you watched a propaganda movie that told you what you wanted to believe and that's it??

  8. Yes, the Sun is the source for all warmth on Earth.

Here are two links from NASA that describe the Sun's impact on global warming.

"Of the many trends that appear to cause fluctuations in the Sun’s energy, those that last decades to centuries are the most likely to have a measurable impact on the Earth’s climate in the foreseeable future. Many researchers believe the steady rise in sunspots and faculae since the late seventeenth century may be responsible for as much as half of the 0.6 degrees of global warming over the last 110 years (IPCC, 2001)"

    http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Library...

"At least 10 to 30 percent of global warming measured during the past two decades may be due to increased solar output rather than factors such as increased heat-absorbing carbon dioxide gas released by various human activities"

    http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Newsroo...

  9. Only people who are a) ignorant of science and b) think that surfing some crackpot blogs on the Internet makes them qualified to second-guess scientists who have spent years of hard work studying climate change and c) are gullible enough to believe propaganda paid for by the oil companies like 'the Great Global Warming Swindle."

  10. maybe it is partially our sun, i dont know. but whether global warming is cause by man or by the sun, it's happening and it's bad.

    go to:

    www.ngcsixdegrees.com

to see how bad it could really get.

  11. I don't believe in man-made global warming.  The earth goes through cycles.  It always has regardless of what man does or doesn't do.

Yes, I recycle and look for energy efficient products.  My reasons have nothing to do with the temperature of the earth.  That's my personal choice and I don't think it would be right to force others to do those things.

  12. I believe that it was the natural order of things that human beings would manipulate the environment and understanding that there is a trade off for whatever anyone does, the residual effect may be that we have hastened the aging process of the Earth to a small degree.  Having said this, I think that conservation, recycling and "going green" are valid things for us to be doing.

  13. Right now the evidence says CO2 doesn't appear to have an effect on global warming, but that doesn't mean man has no effect. So if you ask me if CO2 is to blame than I'd say no, if you ask me if man can or has caused climate change, I'd say I don't know.

  14. I love how bob always says 99% of scientists believe it.  I bet that isnt accurate.  And I bet you are counting some of the IPCC 2500 scientists consensus.... which is made up of MOSTLY of social workers and politicians, not scientists.

Oh, and yea, the only source of heat, the only input on the climate on earth, the SUN, has absolutely nothing to do with it... right.

Bob, how do you explain the fact that other planets have experienced warming at the same time as us?

And also, people who think people arent able to KNOW about something because they didnt go to college for that specific degree probably hasnt gone to college themselves.  And if you havent, then you dont deserve to have an opinion on such a complex subject.  You think you know it all because you watch the TV all day, and read all of the skewed news articles?  Oil companies are not trying to fund anti-warming propaganda... no scientists involved in refuting have received money.  And who HAS received the money?  The scientists given grants by the socialist european governments to spread the c**p.

Oil is the most important substance to man right now, there is no escape from it.

ALL A BUNCH OF c**p, GET OVER IT PEOPLE.

  15. I don't.  I agree with the 99% of scientists who think it's mostly us.  Here's why (and the real proof is in the links).

We KNOW it's not the Sun, because solar radiation has been decreasing for 20 years,

The swindle movie is a piece of junk.  The British press tore it apart:

"A Channel 4 documentary claimed that climate change was a conspiratorial lie. But an analysis of the evidence it used shows the film was riddled with distortions and errors."

"The science might be bunkum, the research discredited. But all that counts for Channel 4 is generating controversy."

    As did scientists.

Even Channel 4 which broadcast it now says it's wrong.

There's a ton of data showing global warming is real, and mostly caused by us.  2 summaries, short and long:

SHAPESHIFTER - Proof that most all scientists agree:

The wiki article is not opinion, just easily checkable facts.

"The fact that the community overwhelmingly supports the consensus is evidenced by picking up any copy of Journal of Climate or similar, any scientific program at the meetings, or simply going to talk to scientists. I challenge you, if you think there is some un-reported division, show me the hundreds of abstracts that support your view - you won't be able to. You can argue whether the consensus is correct, or what it really implies, but you can't credibly argue it doesn't exist."

Not all planets are warming, just a few for different reasons.  On Mars it's giant dust storms unique to Mars:

and i will bet they will try to blame us for that to.

  17. If you ever traveled in China you get some idea of what air poplution really is.

When it blocks out the sun thingy day after day.

When you expect for the fog to lift in the middle of a large lake on a sunny day and it never does because it is smog and you have a real need to breath in deeply and there is no way to do so, and you are happy later to be back in L.A. to finally breath breathable air again.

Kicker is, L.A. is the poster child for US smog.

  18. Looks as if you're preaching to the choir so far.

The earth goes through weather and climate cycles and has been for over a billion years. We are in the current Ice Age and obviously in a warming period.

The last glaciation receded about 13,000 years ago and we are apparently still in that warming period phase. I find it a bit odd that supposedly informed people refer to the last glaciation as..."The Last Great Ice Age" but there is so much to know I guess most of us, myself included, just can't comprehend the vastness of our current periphery of knowledge.

I do believe that man made carbon based pollution is effecting us in a negative manner but the warming period is probably effected by this pollution in a minimal way.

I understand that flatulence of bovine beasts adds as much hydrocarbon to the atmosphere as the industrial complex of man but, on the other hand, man is the species that requires so many cattle to feed our ever increasing world population that we can be blamed for the amount of bovine beasts as well.

I agree that we need to begin considering the value of..."green" as well as it applies to our oceans and our drinking water.

My position is there is absolutely nothing wrong with our planet, except, of course, the species of animal we call,   mankind.

  19. I don't believe man is causing the climate to change either. I was wondering this past week about everything man has made, and I can't think of anything that isn't made from a natural substance found on the earth. So in essence everything is a part of the planet, so how can it be bad for the planet?

It isn't, and the planet will recycle everything and reincorporate it back into its self.

Edit: Gwens - I said "not bad for the planet", I didn't say that those things might not be bad for humans.

Edit: Jim Z reminded me of something - I have a cat who hates being cold, so I have to cover him up with a blanket to make him happy.
