Question:

Is there anyone who has actually worked on a cruise ship? How did you do it?

I have been trying for ages. I know about all the websites out there and going to the ship's website but they all seem to be a dead end. Are there any good agencies out there or has anyone ever heard back when they applied directly to the ship's website?

  1. This will depend on what kind of job you are looking to get into on the ship.

This company hires social hosts, bridge directors and seminar speakers. http://www.toseawithz.com/

    Holland America has this site

    http://hollandamericaentertainment.wfrec...

but your best bet is to call the corporate office for the cruise line and talk to the human resource department.

  2. I was actually an entertainer on a ship, so had an agent in London who got me the gig (after an audition).

If you are looking for general work e.g. waiting staff, bar staff, stewardess, etc - contact the cruise companies directly first.  Celebrity cruises encompass a whole lot of other companies - Cunard, Princess, etc.  Go onto their websites (some of them have recruitment sections) and take it from there.

There is also a website www.cruisemates.com.

Good luck with your search - it is an amazing thing to do. x
