Is there anything I can do about cicadas?

I hate hate hate these bugs and they are everywhere! Does anything repell these things? my trees are full and the noise is horrible. I want to go to my pool but the swarm us. Any ideas?

They come in cycles, hon... 17 year, 14 year depending upon the area in which you live.  Google their life cycle.  Hugely interesting.  And remember, you're just one critter on this planet, and they are too.  They are harmless to you and your animals, not like some spiders or scorpions.

There is about nothing you can do anyway.  In a few weeks, they'll be gone.
