I'm terrified of bad dreams...if they are intense enough I end up thinking of them all day and it ruins everything. I recently started dreaming again, since I go through periods where I hardly remember my dreams to days where I can't stop thinking about my dreams. Is there anything I can do so I won't dream? I try not to think about bad things before I go to sleep but it's hard sometimes. I'm afraid of going to sleep. :( I don't wanna dream anymore!!!!

  1. Dreams can be really really helpful. They tell you what you're really feeling. If your having bad dreams, its your body's way of telling you that somethings wrong. Instead of being afraid to dream, embrace your dreams and try to understand what they mean so you can fix the problem. You should also check out Lucid dreaming, which can be used to solve nightmares instead of putting them off.

  2. i heard if you think of somthing possitive or somthing that u like or enterest you before u go to bed and usually u dream about what u where thinking before you went to bed or you will think or somthing not so frigtning

  3. Your dreams are a result of you waking or almost waking and then returning to sleep.  This occurs during R.E.M sleep.  Try some stress reducing exercises. You may want to consult your doctor for some temporary sleep aids.

  4. It sounds like your bad dreams are trying to tell you something that you are ignoring. It could be an internal conflict or something in your everyday life.  What's going on in your life right now, think hard about this.  Its very important to acknowledge the issue causing the bad dreams or you will keep having them. Once you have acknowledged your real issue the bad dreams will stop.

  5. Honey I am sorry about your problem but you need to see specialists. Unfortunately you have to dream; everyone dreams every night... No matter what people say, they dream. Sometimes you dream and don't remember but you do dream.

Your brain does not sleep although you do so it is continually running. When you dream that is your brain telling you something so you should talk with a dream specialists. The fact that you are so afraid of dreaming means that there is an issue that needs to be talked about. See someone for help.

  6. The one thing you need to remember is that nightmares are often caused by tension and stress.

Therefore, if you go to bed fretting that you are going to have nightmares, then in effect, you might actually be causing your nightmares.

The best way to prevent nightmares is to prepare yourself for bed ahead of time. Basically, don't just be so tired when you go to bed that you instantly fall asleep.

This keeps most of the prior day's stress in your mind and body, and may cause nightmares.

Just attempt to clear your mind completely, like I said, making yourself anxious about having nightmares right before bed may be the reason you are having them so often.

Lastly, nicotine will make your brain go INSANE during bedtime, so avoid that last day's cigarette (if you smoke).

My girlfriend's sister went to bed with a nicotine patch on, and woke up terrified at the dreams she had. Caffeine can also have a less intense, but similar effect.

    Good luck, and sweet dreams!

  7. well don't eat right when you go to bed or drink mayb even get a little horny so you will dream about horny stuff

  8. If you don't dream, you're not getting good enough sleep.  Everyone dreams, it's remembering them that's key.

You are less likely to remember your dreams if you wake up naturally, rather than an alarm clock.  It's waking up in the middle of a dream that makes you remember them.

  9. Sorry, but there is no way to control your dreams. When you're in your REM cycle of sleeping your brain releases chemicals that make you dream and one of those are called DMT.  It's actually a hallucinogen that can be extracted from Colorado Frogs and sometimes you can find it in powder form and I believe that is why when you dream it's almost like a trip. Anyways, you can not stop those chemicals from being released.  Remember they're just dreams, not reality.

  10. No, you can't not dream. (Well, researchers have prevented subjects from dreaming, by waking them as soon as they go into REM sleep. But They have to stop, because it's dangerous. We MUST dream.)

So you need to rethink your goal, which is to stop being haunted by bad dreams.

It might be worthwhile to figure out what it is that's making you have these bad dreams, and obsess on them afterward.

    Consider therapy.

Or at least try to reflect on what your dreams are trying to tell you.

  11. There's nothing you can do to prevent dreams from happening. However, you may try to make the ones you do have good instead of bad. Try relaxing every evening before falling asleep, such as taking a nice hot bath, listening to some relaxing music, whatever makes you relax and feel comfortable. Do not eat one hour before going to bed. If you still feel scared of going to sleep, I would seek a therapist.

  12. i dont think so but wish there was

  13. I used to wish I couldn't dream anymore. Don't try to stop dreaming, because even if they terrify you, they have meanings. There is a way you can control what you dream, but I'm not sure if there is anyway you can get them to stop (other than not sleeping, or not getting enough sleep). All you have to do is find an object that you want to dream about -maybe a picture of a person, an animal, or even an object around the house. Every night before you go to bed, for about 15 minutes just study that object. Get to know everything there is to know about that object. This ritual may take up to two weeks before you actually see the object in your sleep. This does work, and it will help you rid your sleep of bad dreams. Hope this helps!

  14. this is a totaly serious answer, if i smoke weed, i don't dream for a few weeks. i don't know why, or if this is normal, but i swear it's true. just smoke a joint every few weeks and you will be fine.

  15. I am the same way. You can not stop yourself from dreaming. The Bible says, Proverbs 1:33 "but whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil."

Proverbs 3:24 "When you lie down, you will not be afraid: When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet."

Psalm 27:1 "The Lord is my light and my salvation:

    Whom shall I fear?

    The Lord is the defense of my life;

    Whom shall I dread?"

I memorized these and said them before I went to sleep each night, and God helped me deal with bad dreams. Good luck.
