Is there anything I can do to fix my untreated leather purse?

I got a new leather purse recently, but I haven't gotten the chance to treat the leather yet. I've been very careful not to bring it anywhere where I thought it'd get wet. I brought it to work today and when I left I realized it had a 1cm in diameter dark spot, and I'm assuming that water got dripped on it at some point, though I can't be sure.

Is there anything I can do to fix the dark spot (or make it less noticeable?)

Call or take it to a leather shop (where they clean and restore leather coats). Surely they can clean and treat the leather.

try saddle soap

try petroleum jelly buff it in to the leather and wipe the excess off
