Is there anything I can do to help my daughter to stop having accidents?

My daughter started wetting the bed at night the second her little brother was born. We try not to make a big deal out of it because I have heard that this can happen when there is a change or stresses in a childs life. The problem is that it has been over a year since he was born and it is still going on and a few months ago she started having accidents in her pants during the day. I have also heard that this may be for attention so I try to give her as much attention as possible, but nothing is changing and I don't know what else to do. Please Help

She will be 5 in August and never had any of these problems before her brother was born.

  1. she could feel neglected, why not get her involved with helping feed and dress her little brother, and make her feel important, but let her know how much help she was.

maybe you could get her to go to the loo before bed.give her plenty of hugs, not much else you can do at this stage

  2. maybe it's better to go to the doctor..

  3. start making her go to the bathroom before bed. And check on her during the night, see if you can't find a common time she wets. If she wets about the same time every night then start waking her up so she can go to the bathroom and back to bed. She may start waking up on her own to go again.

  4. Cut out all liquids at 6pm every night, and before she goes to bed make sure she goes to the bathroom.  To help prevent that mess in the bed, there are also huggies 'goodnights' and those overnight underpants for bigger kids.

I'd try to explain that since she's 5 and will be going to school soon, if this doesn't stop then she'll have to go back to wearing diapers when all of the other girls will be in big girl undies at school.
