About 17 hours ago, I got my wisdom teeth removed and now my mouth continues to bleed quite heavily. I continue to replace the gauze in my mouth every 30 minutes, and one side seems to be improving a little, but the other is still pretty bloody. Is there anything I can do to enduce blood clotting to stop the flow of blood?

  1. Call your dentist, when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, I woke up in the middle of the night and my whole pillow case was red from blood.  I got up and kept spitting and spitting and trying to rinse my mouth out.  It wouldn't stop bleeding and I was starting to get freaked out.  I called my dentist the next morning and he gave me his home number to call him in the middle of the night if it happened again.  Luckily it did'nt, it just stopped on it's own.  but if I were you, I would just give your dentist a quick call and see what he or she has to say about it.

  2. I dont know much to stop the bleeding but try not to take pain killers, which usually thin the blood and reduce clotting ability.

  3. Based on experience; yes, but it will taste yucky.  If you want to, you could replace the gauze with a tea bag.  It will taste terrible but it will help and will reduce pain and bleeding.  (Pick a brand without a staple in it).
