for the past couple of months I have been getting alot of heaches and I am pretty sure that its because of muscle tension. I know that this can be caused by stress but even when I feel relaxed I can have extremely bad headaches. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to stop this from reoccuring, right now the only way to stop them is to take excederin, or sleep. Any advice would be apprieciated.

  1. I  suffered from Migraines for over 3 years and could find nothing that would help. I was told to use peppermint but I never did cause it sounded so crazy. Will one night I could not take the pain anymore and said i will try anything!!I rubbed one drop of peppermint oil on each temple and then one across my fore head. i took two drops and rubbed in to the base of my skull and in three mins the pain just went away. After doing this for about 2 months I have been migrane free for about one year I swear by it!!!!! Caution make sure not to rub your eyes after ward I found out the hard way!!!!!!!!!!1  And I know that most of mine were tenson head aches. my wife at the time was abusing the kids and We were always fighting. Proud to say I am now a single father of  three we are now have a lot less stress and no more head aches : )

  2. Go treat yourself to a massage. Cranial sacral therapy, or deep tissue in the neck and shoulders would be best. I help lots of people just like you suffering from tension headaches. It helps even if it's not a tension headache. In fact whenever I myself get headaches I head to one of my massage therapist friends. It helps me tremendously. Good luck!

  3. I regularly treat headaches with a combination of Structural and Cranial Osteopathy.

In most cases the treatment drasticaly reduces the frequency and severity.

The longer you have them the less likely you are to have them go away completely but treatment should help and you shouldn't become dependent on treatment either.

  4. There are a few things to do...

    1) figure out what is causing you stress and take steps to decrease the stress.

    2) meditation, self-hypnosis, tranquil quiet music can assist in relaxing your mind

    3) get regular massage if you can because your muscles have memory and if you do not re-educate them in how to remain relaxed they stay tense whether you feel tense or not.

    4) regular exercise such as qi gong, yoga, and walking can also help to relax tense muscles that cause headaches

    Good Luck!

  5. Yes. You can do the following:

    1) have your neck muscles massaged before they get too tense.

    2) If you read or write a lot sitting at a desk, or if you work a long time in the same position, make sure you change position regularly. Relax your shoulders and bend your head backward to release the tension in your neck muscles. Stretch often.

    3) Take a break fairly often and drink water regularly throughout the day.

To treat tension headache once it has occured, there is only kinesiology, self-hypnosis or sleep (as you do).

All the best to you - without headaches in the future!

  7. Australian Bush Flower Essences Calm & Clear Essence will help reduce stress, is not a drug, 7 drops in water and sip till you feel better.

ABFE Emergency Essence might be useful for the pain part of the headache.
