Is there anything fun to do in Dublin with only five hours time?

My family will be in Dublin on two separate occasions on layover when we are on our way to Germany and Italy.

Any suggestions on what we can do during the 5 hours layover time? (I'm delighted I even get to step foot on Irish soil!)

  1. go to o'connell street and watch the people. this is the main drag in Dublin. check out the post office there is a very cool bronze statue of Cucuhlain(Famous mythic hero) the building was designed by the same architect who designed Charleville Castle in Tullamore.  The area on the Liffy (River that runs through Dublin) is interesting as well.  Trinity college is of interest--see the Book of Kells, and the harp in the llibrary.  have a god time.

  2. Well im guessing you are going by plane. There is not much to do at Dublin Airport so i suggest you get the aircoach (€14 return ticket) into town and get off near grafton street. There is lots of shops, cafes, trinity college (to visit, has the Book Of Kells in it)

You could also get onto the 'hop on, hop off' sightseeing buses. There big red buses with pictures on the side of them and they will bring you around dublin city centre and show you all the attractions, there is 23 stops of the bus i.e Christchurch, Barracks Museum etc.

The tickets are Adult-€15, Child-€6 Student and oap-€15. I really recommend it because it is something to do to pass time and you get to see all the sights aswel.

    Have a Good Trip

  3. you will loose 2 hours going back and forth to the city centre as the traffic is crazy.  hop across the road from the airport to a lovely pub called The Coachmans Inn. 5 minutes away.  Have a leisurely few pints of Guinness and a carvery lunch which is very cheap at 10 euro.   also be aware that there can be very long queues to get back past the security system at Dublin Airport. at peak times it can take 45 minutes.don't risk missing the onward leg of the journey.  also double check if it's ok to leave the airport as you are technically "in transit" and not entitled to pass through customs.
