when i'm going down the hill i lean forward a little, because i cannot balance enough to sit back enough, this makes it almost impossible to turn on my heels, i've tried just standing and trying to sit back like i would on a board, and i can barely do that. is there anything i can to to make it easier to balance?

ya, i know this is sort of a dumb question

  1. I'd practice some balence techniques, like standing on a pillow on one leg, and maybe get a balance board,

    it helped me alot.

Oh, and make sure you bindings are tight enough.

  2. I know what the problem is hun, You say in the 1st part of your question  " i cant balance enough to sit back"  When you lean back, you lose all your turning ability   The thing that makes you turn is your edges. I know when your 1st learning healside turns it feels really really weird to put all of your weight over your front foot but that's what you need to do. As soon as your lean back and take the weight off your front foot, your dumpin it. That's the point where you lose your edging. At all times you need to be leaning forward and keeping pressure on that front foot.   Now all your going to do, is keep all that weight over your front foot and kinda act like your squashing a bug with your heel.  It also helps if your going very slow  and point your front arm is the direction you want to turn, you may look a little silly doing that, but who cares how you look right? We are learning here.    There really isn't much more to it.   Remember keep your weight over that front foot, and tilt the board in the direction you want to turn. and squash that bug.  lol..   And if and when you fall, pick your butt back up and try it again and again and again. visualize what your trying to do and DO IT!!

    GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY SHREDDING

  3. This is not a dumb question. It's a good question. Try a wider stance and bend your knees a little. When you are going down the hill, turn your head and shoulders to face downhill  and keep the bottom half sideways. When your whole body is sideways, you'll lean on one side or the other unknowingly and lose your balance but this way is more stable. Good luck.
