Change his last name? What?

I assume you mean his ex-wife to change her last name because you don't want to be the second (or sixth or ninth) Mrs. Jones or whatever.

Do they have kids? You really can't ask her to change her name to be different from their kids. That's their mom.

She has a right to the name. If they don't have kids with the same last name, you can write her a letter and ask, you would pay for it of course if you're doing the asking, but if I was an ex, I would simply laugh.

There is honestly nothing you can do. I would get over your sense of entitlement if you want your marriage to last. Her having the name (and she had it before you!) has nothing to do with you and everything to do with the inconvenience of changing her name.

Stop being so insecure.

There are not many guys in their right mind who would change their last name. It is their family name. The only reason I can think of is if they have a really terrible relationship with their parents. Even then, there is normally someone in their family, aunt, uncle, grandparent, who they love enough to carry on the family name. I think your fighting a loosing battle.
