Is there anything i can put on my thatch umbrella cover to prolong its life and stop mildew from growing

the thatch is turning black and we've only had it up for about a month. We would like to know if there is anything that could be put on it to eliminate the mildew and possibly protect it from it happening more.

By "thatch" I'm assuming a bamboo-like structure.  If it's a big structure you may need to use a pressure hose to spray on bleach-water.  If it's small just water and bleach should work. To prevent more mold, you should seal it with several coats of varnish - there are some that are clear and matte so you can't even tell it's been sealed.

To clean off the thatch I would use Soapy Wood Cleaner.

Standard Mold Treatment/Preventative would help to stop the mildew getting hold.
