I dropped a chip on my favourite shorts last night so to try and clean them I put Fairy liquid on them and put them straight in the washing machine but now they've dried I can see the mark's still there =(

Is there anything else that could take the mark out?

Thanks x

  1. The only way I know to get stains like this out and old or fresh if it is an

oil stain then treat it with an oil substance like wd40 put enough to cover the stain then after a minute or so cover the oil with dish soap and work this in.  Wash this out in very hot water as hot as garment can take and then wash in machine as usual.  Works on any item no matter how old the stain is.  I have not once actually ruined any clothing doing this but I also am prepared for failure but hey would I wear it anyway with that stupid stain!

  2. Just before I wash the clothes I rub the grease marks in with a little bit of dish washing liquid. Works every time and is a cheap solution.

  3. A Vanish Soap Bar will do the trick - it really does work!'

Wet the stain and rub the soap on the stain - make sure it's well worked in.  Some stains like curry will start to disappear or change colour on contact.  Wait for 5 to 10 mins and then wash as normal in your washing machine.  Occasionally, for stubborn stains, you may have to repeat the process.

I've used it for years - it seems to work for every kind of stain.

  4. The best, cheapest and most effective way of removing food grease from clothes that I have found is to dab the stain with straight eucalyptus oil just before giving the garment a warm wash. Make sure that the stain is actually wet with the oil. This also works for old marks that have been there for a few washes. It also makes the whole load of laundry smell pretty nice.

  5. Try to absorb the grease from fabric, using either cornstarch or talcum powder.

Also, salt dissolved in ammonia is often an effective grease remover.

    Good Luck!

  6. If you look carefully in your supermarket in the detergent section, for clothes etc

there should be a number of liquids that can remove stains. you have to look though, i think some contain bleach though so watch out for that. Sometimes grease will never come out :( * sighh *
