Is there anything that I can do?

My daughter who lives in a different state, is 20 and currently pregnant with her second child. She doesn't want this child and says she cannot afford adoption and has been trying to kill this baby herself by using multiple drugs and drinking. I have tried to let her know that there are people who would be willing to adopt this child but she is adamant about how she just couldn't see herself doing that. Any advice????PLEASE

If she is strapped financially, why not tell her that there are people who would PAY her expenses if she would give them the baby for adoption.  At least she wouldn't have the added stress of knowing she can't pay for doctor visits, maternity clothing, vitamins and the delivery.

Before you speak to her, do some research on-line and print out the names of some open adoption agencies and the guidelines, etc.

Call social services in her state. They may be helpful. But I would let her know that you will be calling them it might make her behave more responsibly. Also remind her that drinking and doing drugs during pregnancy don't always kill the baby. They can be born with problems ect.

uh, she's probably too far along but what about abortion? if you can afford it go there, she needs you. Take her to a social service agency. right away. as a mother you probably would not want to do it but it sounds as if she has another young child, if she's drinking and doing drugs that's child endangerment and it's your duty to do something about it, like calling child protection authorities. If i were you i'd be on the next flight (or bus, or car ) good luck

You can call the police.

They will help her by charging her.  The judge will help her by getting her into a rehab.

Best you do this BEFORE she kills this baby.  Otherwise she gets more than rehab.

I know this sounds harsh.  But it's a loving thing to do.  Your daughter is not thinking clearly due to the influence of drugs and alcohol in her system.

Since the cost of adoption is born by the couple who adopt, and not her, you can see how fuzzy her thinking is.  So you won't be able to appeal to her logic.  She currently has none.

If the police find they can't move forward without proof, contact Child Protective Services.

i dont get how shes willing to kill the baby inside of her but not willing to let it live but give it up to a loving family that could take of the kid like she could if she could afford it.
