Question:

Is there anything to consume before bed that will effect the ability or tendancy to dream/remember dreams?

I want to know ways to be able to remember my dreams better / have more vivid dreams.

Also does alcohol affect dreaming in any way?

  1. I was always told that drinking Chamomile Tea increases the ability to dream, and remember it. I had best luck with relaxing while I'm dozing off, telling myself "I will remember this dream", over and over, til I fall asleep. Try to keep good, calm thoughts around you, sitting on a beach, or whatever will relax you and clear your mind. You won't have much luck if you can't get a crazy work week out of your head...and alcohol couldn't hurt in moderation, maybe a shot of ginger brandy in a cup of tea....Good luck!


  2. I don't believe anything I've tried consuming before bed helps me remember my dreams. I've tried lots of things, like washing my hands with cold water before bed.

    The method that works for me is convincing my subconscious every night that I want to remember my dreams (since it's so used to being ignored, it needs some convincing). Just repeat over and over in your head "I want to remember my dreams.. I want to remember my dreams.." try to make it the last thing you think as you fall asleep. and as you start to remember all your dreams, you can start saying "I need my dreams to be more vivid.. I need my dreams to be more vivid.." and after that, you can start practicing asking your dreams questions, or lucid dreaming, or whatever you wish.

    Don't be discouraged though, if it does not work the first time. Practice, practice, practice! It's taken me a year to get where I am with my dreaming.

    Also.. Keeping a dream diary wouldn't hurt. Even if you didn't remember your dream that night, write down "I didn't remember my dreams". This will help convince your subconcious too.

  3. Mind training will provide answer to your problem, by strongly wish and actively control you thinking process may induce your mind to remember the dreams more clearly.

    In Trantric Buddhism, we have dream yoga to control and remember dreams.

  4. Taking vitamin B helps me to dream vividly and to remember them when I wake up.
