  1. No, there is a small fishermen village, but nothing fancy or with shops or anything.

If you want to do something else than hang at the beach, take a tour to El Valle.

    Nightlife, only in the hotel.

  2. Be careful..it is not the saffest place in panama.  You can explore, get shells and bathe in  the water..nothing else to do...

  3. We live in Panama CIty, Panama.  We were at the DeCameron Resort in mid March which is in Farallon.  If you are not at one of the all inclusives there's not a lot going on up and down the beach.  The fishing town is very poor and as is typical since it is a fishing village the people are descendants from the Caribbean.  Beach front houses can look pretty decent and the houses have the appearance of money, but one (block) street off the beach the houses are dingy, in disrepair, and unkept, in short the people live off the sea and they are poor.  Since Panama's major crime falls under crimes of opportunity I would not party with the locals in their pub.  There are no night clubs for tourists unless you go back to the city.  There will be in the future, a lot of holding companies have bought up the property up and down the beaches and are in the planning process for new resorts and tourists hang outs. Beside the DeCameron there is a local artisian market on the beach.  I bought a natural pearl necklace, not jewelry store quality, but nice, of black and white pearls for under $20.  Lots of hand crafts, beach towels, etc for sell in the various kiosks.

Even Penonome which is the next town up the road past Farallon and closest to Farallon is not developed for the tourist yet.  There are a lot of department stores in Penonome on the main drag through town.  Lots of cheap shopping, no place I'd go hand out at night as a tourist and throw a few back impairing my judgement. If you head back toward the city of Panama to Coronado a few minutes up the road you will find the local hang outs are more accustom to seeing tourtists and a lot safer.  Coronado is pretty much built out and is full of Panamanians and expats a like, so the interastructure and the commerce are developing at a faster pace.

Panama City is the only place you are going to find night life in the style of the US night clubs or close to the style of the US.
