  1. Count backwards from one hundred and if you lose your place, start again from one hundred.

    You will fall asleep because it can become boring

  2. Warm milk is great.  If that's not practical, take your calcium at bedtime.

  3. Microwaving Milk is not advisable, many studies have been published in reputable journals like the British Lancet, discussing how microwave energy modifies the molecular structure and chirality of the molecules within the milk, which have a negative effect on human health, especially in relation to babies {the reason why the concerns and papers were published was due to the concern for babies}.

    ======================================...

    Sleeping pills are dangerous, so i would not recommend you consider this as an option. I would recommend trying to synchronise your circadian clock again, spend time outside in the sun, watch it rise/set, for a minumum of 30seconds per day. Also if your very tired, then sleep for an hour or two before 3pm.

    If all this does not help, then take melatonin or 30mg of 5HTP {or 30mg of Melatonin}. This is a safe supplement which is the precursor to serotonin {the feel good neurotransmitter}, at night it is converted to melatonin {a chemcial that makes you sleep}, so increasing this will help. Also stay in a dark room, no bright lights, and just relax.

    Since you request a drink, i would reccommend you make an organic, natural, & healthy hot chocolate, the recipe {from my naturopath}

    *1-2 spoons of Xylitol

    *1 heaped tablespoon of organic cocoa powder

    *Warm organic milk {or raw organic milk}

    Listen to BrainSync Deep Relaxation or Deep Sleep Hypnotic CD, available free from p2p networks, on mininova.org, you will need bittorrent program to download.

    Also do some exercise, but not before bed, for instance do a workout at say 5-6pm. Or read a book or watch TV, this always makes me sleepy.

    Hope this helps.

  4. melatonin has worked great for me. i only take 1 mg., you need to take a break after a while so that it will keep working for you. it feels very natural...like you just get sleepy earlier. i have major insomnia issues and this has helped me more than anything. no weird kind of 'hangover' as valerian has given me. good luck! :)

  5. Go to a Natural Health Store,,plenty of healthym things to ease you into sleeep...ZZZZ!

  6. There is always the old fashion way... heating milk for a short period in the microwave is a natural drink that helps you go to sleep.  When you heat the milk it produces a chemical that helps make you sleepy.  Also eating turkey. =)  My dad's a chemist so I learn these little things from him.

  7. A cup of chamomile tea with a little honey should do the trick!

  8. Yes it is, a big glass of warm milk.

  9. 1) Valerian

    2) Melatonin

    3) Kava

    4) Relaxation Techniques : Visualization involves imagining a relaxing scene. Or slowly, starting at your feet concentrating on relaxing all the muscles in your body and "putting them to sleep."

    5) Diet : cut out or reduce caffeine, avoid sweets, eat foods that help you sleep such as whole grain crackers before bedtime and foods that contain tryptophan [like turkey, cheese]. Eat magnesium rich foods as these are a natural sedative such as legumes and seeds, dark leafy green vegetables, wheat bran, almonds, cashews, blackstrap molasses, brewer's yeast, and whole grains.

    6) Aromatherapy. The scent of lavender works wonders.

    7) Light. You may need more light in the morning and or afternoon. Try taking little walks. Light regulates melatonin which helps sends sleep and wake messages to your body.

    8) Music. Music has been found to improve sleep quality, decrease nightly wakening, lengthen sleep time, and increase satisfaction with sleep.

    9) Exercise. Lack of exercise can contribute to poor sleep. Muscle tension and stress build in the body. Exercise can promote deep sleep that night. However, make sure this is done at least 4 hours before bed time.

    10) Chamomile can reduce anxiety, calm the digestive system, and relieve muscle tension.

    I hope you find relief and pleasant dreams soon!
