  1. Yes its true and yes its a total disgrace, but what would you expect from a finna failure government. Their hands are so deep in the developers pockets they would sell newgrange and make it a roundabout. This proposal is showing every thing that is wrong with modern ireland.

Ask yourself this question, would the americans do this to the alamo, The GPO is irelands alamo, it should be kept as is to remind us that all our material desires and our freedom were at the cost of these men and women who gave their lives for the greater good. God knows dublin does not need another shopping center that badly. Why dont we put urinals on the graves of the men who were exicuted while we are at it. I went to germany last month and saw the respect and dignity of the reichstag. We will lose all respect and credibility as a nation if we allow this to happen. I take some comfort that I did not vote for bertie and fiana failure, my hands are clean.

I know the above sounds very SF but I am not a shinner or a provo supporter, they have hijacked the irish peoples right to celebrate their independance by linking 1916 with their own useless political aspirations.

I love my country and only want the best for it.

  2. you have to laugh at the government.. I mean ..what's next?? a ferris wheel on the hill of Tara? the red bull flugtag on the cliffs of moher?

maybe a londis or a spar in the middle of the burren?

or a public shooting gallery for junkies in the garden of rememberance??

no wonder people still see us as a backward country!

I'm sure the rebels of 1916 didn't fight and die  just to see one of the nicest and most historic buildings in Irelands history turned into another  ******** starbucks or burger king!

I'm not a shinner either but that's a disgrace what they're gonna do to that building

  3. Yep whats wrong with that picture

  4. Intrepid,  Well, the GPO maybe moving to some other place, I would worry about, then again they may not need printing any more. Don't be so upset, go shopping when the Centre opens, have good night and a great week, your Friend Jimmy.

  5. Yes, it will close as the GPO, but not to the public altogether. I believe it's a listed/protected building, but part of it will be incorporated into the new Northern Quarter, as Alpha said. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing; more people will be able to access it and appreciate it.

  6. Yes it seems that it is to be incorporated into a new shopping centre which will be know as the Northern Quarter. Reas the full story below.

  7. I agree Intrepid!

RIP those brave men who gave their own lives in 1916 in that building in the hope of freeing this country.
