Is there anything that really will make a BIG difference...

I know they say that 'everything little you do helps', e.g turning lights off, not leaving T.Vs on standby etc.

but is there anything, that we can do individually, in a group or as a nation ?

Will the governement ever see sense?

  1. big changes will only come from international agreements. at the moment western gov.s want to leave it 'to the free market' lol! talk about leaving the wolf in charge of the flock! we need an international agreement to reduce carbon emissions to 20% of current emissions by 2050.

individual actions will count, every little will help, from reducing energy use to storing carbon in your garden plants and soil, if we all join in.

so best thing you can do to help is spread the word, and get campaigning.

  2. Sheets of StyroFoam, floating in sunny parts of the ocean, with aluminum foil glued on them.

.... or ice floes.  All we need is a spare submarine fleet to push them into position.

  3. sadly its to late damage already done

  4. Reduce the world's population to about 2,000,000,000 by contraception and a Chinese style one child policy. This would solve all food  and housing problems and make a sustainable world.

2 billion is still twice the population in1800

Population now is 6,700,000,000 and rising

  5. Start small - do little things like you already suggested.  Lead by example, others will see the good in what you are doing, and will follow.  Soon our polical leaders will catch on to the importance of this once they realize how important it is.

  6. I feel helpless.  I try to do my part in my own home and life, and my friends and family do the same.  But, individually, none of it can really matter.  In the other hand, if we join forces, as a whole state, or nation, it really could have an impact.  Honestly though, that is truly impossible in the US.  I'm proud to live in this country, but ashamed of some of my neighbors.  There are people who don't even care one little bit about the environment.  People leaving their car running while they go in the store, people leaving the tv on while they're not even in the house!!!  Until people like this wise-up and realize what's happening, there is absolutely nothing that that can be changed.

as far as the government ever seeing sense...HAHA.  when does that ever happen??

  7. I don't think there is such thing as Global warming. And there is nothing we can do to prevent it. even if we started doing something, we would see the effects of our "help" for the nearest 150 years, so chill out people :(

  8. At 13 u don't know anything. A head full of dreams waiting to be scammed. Look at the people making money from GW.Gore is making millions and there are others.

  9. Get on the band wagon and convert all your cars to run on the hydrogen fuel cell.  We need to be less dependent on oil.

We are the government, and only we can change Global Warming.  Cars can be modified to run only on salt water.  Read and understand the process.  It is very simple that the oil companies fear we will not buy gas to run our cars..

  10. We need to do all we can on ALL levels. Individually, and also small/medium/large communities.

But especially on a govermental level. They're the ones that can put in place legislation that will encourage and cause wind and solar farms to be built, and coal stations to be shut down. And they're the ones that can make this happen all across the world. They only need us to push them into it.

So as important as it is the be as good as we can individually, it's even MORE important to do everything we can to force our governments to do the really massive things needed.

But keep doing the little things as well!

  11. Global warming cannot be stopped without the participation of China, India, the countries of the former USSR and South American countries which together far outstrip North America in production of pollution and destruction of forests.

North America could, however, reduce its use of hydrocarbons as fuel by nearly 80% by establishing large solar and wind energy farms.  The huge non-productive but sunny or windy areas available in Canada and the US make it possible to produce all of the electricity needs of those countries -- and replace much of the natural gas, oil and propane heating with clean, non-polluting electrical heat.  The technology exists.  We lack only the will.

All that said, however, the heat that we produce to heat our homes and buildings eventually escapes -- and contributes to global warming.   So unless we all move to warm climates and stop exhaling Carbon dioxide, we will continue to contribute to global warming.

BTW, the utterly futile production of fuel from corn is counter-productive because it uses more energy and releases more carbon dioxide to produce bio-diesel than to produce synthetic diesel from the Canadian oil sands -- which contain enough oil to keep Canada and the US going for at least another 150 years.   The incentives to produce fuel from corn are also, in part, responsible for the crippling food price increases in much of the third world over the past year.

  12. We must eat more methane producing cows and cut down the ozone layer depleting pine belt.

  13. YEA pray to God to take the world!!!!!

This world is full hate and its only going to get worse.
