My bf's niece is living with my bf's brother and mom here in Texas. The mother of the little girl just kinda dumped left her here when she fled the state with her two other children. Now quite some time later she keeps calling and saying she wants to come and get her. We want her to stay here but if we are understanding correctly not even the grandmother (my bf's mother) or either uncle can adopt her without consent from both of the parents.. neither of which would consent. Which is asinine since she obviously isn't fit to take care of her child. She said she was coming a couple of weeks ago to pick her up and take her back to Alabama with her but she never showed. And now she called again and is supposed to come and get her this weekend. Is there anything we can do to keep her here if she decides to pony up and come down here. We don't wanna lose this precious little girl. I love her to death and im not even immediate family.

  1. She would typically have to sign over her parental rights and give temporary custody to the grandmother until a court grants custody. Otherwise you would have to go to court and prove her unfit. Good luck
