Is there anything you can do about neighbors that litter?

beautiful building, OWNER actually does the landscaping. I've been finding candy & cigarette wrappers & coffe cups, etc. The laundry room was nuts, bounce & broken coathangers everywhere. A woman sweeps the sidewalks and laundry room, but are we supposed to be making MORE work for her? Is there anything i can say/do?

You can do just like sarahz said about the letter.  If that doesn't make any progress you can report them to the cops of perhaps the better business bearou.

you can send out a nice but stern letter to residents about helping keep the property clean by picking up after themselves. maybe put out a small garbage can outside and in the laundry room, and a sign saying "Please Help Keep Our Shared Areas Clean- please pick up after yourself"

FIRST PUT A NO-LITTERING SIGN WARNING. THEN CALL THE METRO AND REPORT IF YOU SEE ANY LITTERING.

i like the idea of the putting waste baskets in places.. but then who has to buy them and who has to empty them...i think you just put a sign up in the laundry some thing cute but still reminding people that their actions affect every one else!

If the owner does the actual landscaping and everything else for the building and property alone it could possibly be that they simply overlooked or forgotten about a large enough trash recepticle in the Laundry Area though I doubt it as even if there is one there, some people really are just awful messy and thoughtless and inconsiderate of their neighbors/other tenants and their very own home and surroundings much less the owner and caretaker of it all.

Are we supposed to be making MORE work for her? Haha I think most of us know the answer to that one and hopefully one day soon yours and all the rest of our inconsiderate neighbors will grow up and start to pick up after their own selves and perhaps maybe even realize that caretaker of them precious grounds where all the grand souls walk upon is not only human, but also not anyone's personal maid.

Is there anything you can say or do?  You just did and I thank you for that because I swear to gosh sometimes I wonder if all my work is for nothing and I feel like a friggen Sissyfuss character in a most awfully frustrating time and place sometimes but just knowing a single person does in fact care, even if unfortunately for us there never seems to be enough thoughtful and caring people like you around, well I knew right away just from the way you spoke of the wood in your home the world is full of alot more wonderful caring people than it sometimes seems.
