My kids will eat cut up apples, but not a whole apple. So, I'm trying to figure the best way to pack apples in their lunches. It's hard to keep packed lunches nutritious for my picky eaters. Thanks!

  1. Fruit fresh, or lemon juice

  2. Lemon, lime, pineapple and orange juices all work well at stopping the apples from browning.

  3. soak them in salt water for a few minutes and then rinse them off or sprinkle with lemon juice

but if your kids wont eat salty or sour apples, sprite  or any lemon lime soda will work too

  4. a little lemon juice should keep them from browning to much !

  5. The easiest way, i would say, is to put them in salt water, it would stop them from browning for some time...

  6. Lemon juice. Its what everyone uses to keep them from browning, also helps bananas also!

  7. I use lemon juice but I've herd that vampire tears work the best.

  8. Get a jar of Fruit Fresh, which is a powder that you add to water.  It will be near the spices, or the canning supplies at the grocery store.  This works much better than lemon juice, because it doesn't flavor the apples or make them "mushy".  A jar is very cheap and will last a LONG time

  9. Ascorbic acid also known as Fruit Fresh, lemon juice, lime juice, orange juice.

How about getting some of those tiny zip lock boxes the half cup size? and make them a fruit salad. Plastic fork or spoon works very well here. Apples and marshmallows in orange marinade.  Any other fruits you think they would eat go nicely here too.

Orange marinade is 1/4 cup undiluted orange juice concentrate, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1/4 cup honey and 2 tablespoons lime or lemon juice  all blended together. You don't need much on the fruit salad.

  10. acidic fruit/fruit juice

  11. what i do is a mixture of 1 part lemon juice and 1 part water tossed in the bag of apples so they dont get brown and still taste like apples not  lemons

  12. Lemon Juice all the way, or anything else acidic. I love apples

  13. There are also products in the baking aisle at your grocery store for this purpose. I think Fruit fresh is the name of one of them.

I usually just lemon juice though.
