In the back of my DVD recorder is a output socket for a coaxial digital audio cable. I want to plug my DVD recorder into my stereo which has a 3.5mm jack plug socket for audio input.

  1. If you are in the UK your best bet is Maplin. They stock a wide range of adapters

  2. Wire one up yourself, perhaps?  Make sure you get good solder joins.

  3. You can't simply connect one to the other. The digital coaxial RCA output is ... well, DIGITAL, and the input on your stereo accepts analog. A digital to analog converter is expensive (The cheapest I found was $600!!), and also pretty pointless since you can much more easily take the analog signal from the stereo (red/white) RCA outputs on your DVD player and connect to the mini stereo input via a simple adapter.

You won't get surround sound though.
