Is there anyway I can get internet on my laptop without a phone or cable connection?

See i live out in the country right now and it really sux, because they cant get internet without a dish

I have a gateway laptop about 5 years old compatible for wireless

I was wondering is it possible to get internet without a dial up connection or cable?

All of the mobile phone operators do a USB modem to connect your laptop to the Internet at up to 2.8Mb/s (broadband speeds). As long as you get a mobile phone signal, you can get mobile broadband.

Check all the normal mobile phone companies for deals (starting at £10 per month) and also check coverage in your area.

no unless u get a wireless router but u need DSL or broadband.

u can hope that someone else has a unsecured router and connect to theirs :)
