Is there anyway I can plug a microphone into a DCR HC38 Sony Handycam for better sound?

I can't find a thing in the users manual about the sound or if I can plug in a mic.

Unfortunately, the HC38 can not accept an external microphone - not all camcorders have a mic jack.

All movies are shot silent, there is no mic input on a cinemascope camera. They record the audio separate and recombine in the editing process. You can do the same, record the audio on a good quality audio field recorder, such as MD or DAT. Then match the audiotrack to the video when computer editing.
