Is there anyway that I can lighten up a video I took with a digital videocamera once it is on the computer?

The camera is a Vivitar DVR-530. Is there any software or anything that I could use to make the video be brighter? You can hardly see the people in it because the video has a very dark red-orange tint to it. What was wrong and what can I do about it?

try EFFECTS- brightness in XP/Vista wmmaker video editing app however, vid quality might not be that likeable, but at least...

or ask a friend who has Adobe Premiere app, better in enhancing the tone.
