My lava lamp's light bulb burnt out(at least I think it did because it won't turn on) and I was wondering if there is anyway to replace it(or fix it).

  1. yep you can. its a s***w bulb so just take out the lava bit and unscrew the bulb. please unplug it from the wall first though. then take the bulb and get a new one exactly the same and s***w it in. it will work fine

  2. If it's a normal lava-lamp, unplug it, and you should be able to lift up the 'lava' glass part (be careful and set it down somewhere carefully and don't grab it from the top but grasp it with both hands around the larger part because with lots of them the top isn't 100% secured) - and in the base there should be a bulb.

If it's a different type of lava lamp, you might have to look online for how to take it apart, or somehow figure out how to unscrew/separate the glass part from the base. I've never known a lava lamp to have a non-replaceable bulb - so I'm sure there is a way to separate the pieces.

Normally appliance bulbs are what is in there, but basically once you unscrew the bulb, take a good look at it, the wattage/voltage should be printed on either the top of the bulb, or along its base. Even if it's not, you can take the bulb to a lighting/hardware store and get them to match it up.

Once you have a replacement, then put the new one in, then plug it back in and turn it on. If it still doesn't work, then the lava light might be dead and you can decide if it's worth getting a new one or paying to have it fixed. (Try finding a local lighting hardware store that might do this for a decent price.)

  3. Yes you will need an appliance bulb it is smaller than a regular bulb just unscrew it and take it to your local hardware store
