Is there anyway to connect my laptop to my tv and use it much the same way as a TIVO and if so.. HOW ??

  1. a) You need a TV tuner. There are lots available. In your case, look for a digital tuner with a USB interface.

    b) You need Media Center - comes by default in Vista premium or Ultimate but some older versions of XP have it as well

    WMC comes with a free TV Guide and has all the interface you need to make your PC a PVR.

    Some tuners come with their own applications as well.
