  1. You would have to break the agreement and probably pay a fee.  This is the advantage of pre-paid phones... no agreements.

  2. lose your phone on purpose or make it dirty or somehow ruin it

  3. If there is nothing wrong with your current phone - Most companies will allow you to get a new phone about 2-3 months before your actual 'anniversary' date.  You could also say that you are thinking about switching and that the new company has agreed to pay your cancellation fees and see what they say in order to get you to stay.

If your phone is damaged in some way - If you have insurance then they may (or may not) send you a new one as the replacement.  You could ask for a new one, but I haven't experienced this actually working.  Even if you don't have insurance they would probably let you get a new phone assuming you are anywhere close to the 2 year mark (i.e. over 1 year) and just extend your contract.

Also if you do go the insurance/replacement phone route and get 3 'bad' phones within 90 days then the company should upgrade you to the new model of the same phone.  I don't know how that would work if you wanted a new model altogether.

If you get promises over the phone please get full names and extensions or some way to identify the person because once you hang up it could be your word only.  I also recently found out the hard way that 800 number customer service is completely separate from store customer service even though the CS over the phone may say 'go to the store to get XYZ that I have authorized.'

  4. i have verizon and can get a new phone anytime i want.....but if my 2 year agreement is not up, i have to pay the full price of the phone without a discount. so im assuming that most carriers are like that

  5. it depends what plan you have and if you pay insurance or not cuz  broke my phone and i pay insurance so i called and they sent me another one but its not a different phone its the same one and it costs like 50 bucks

  6. ya ebay

  7. 1. yes. go on ebay or craigslist.com and buy a new or used phone. (beware-some phones may be cheap, some may not be)

    2. you can also cancel your contract and pay a heavy fee (about $200 i think)

the best way is to just go on eBay or craigslist.com and buy a new/used phone.

p.s. be sure to check to see if you can return the product if you are not satistified. some items on eBay have return policies while some one craigslist do not. check both places before making up your mind.

    hope i helped!!
