Basically I have a laptop with wireless, but was wondering if there was anyway to access the internet without needing to be near a hub, and how much does it cost?

Thanks

  1. There is ways but it's kinda illegal..

Other than that go to an internet cafe/bar.. and just drink tap water then surf all you want.

  2. vodafone do a wireless service - can be accessed via PC card (over the sim card, pay as you go) or now usb adaptor - drawback is its the cost of mobile phone calls (pay as you go) or contract that is pay per GB.  So painfully expensive unless your just accessing outlook express to download your emails.  So the answer is NO, but also yes.

  3. You could drive into any big street and get onto someone's wireless if they forgot to encrypt it!

You could buy a USB broadband modem from someone like T-mobile, 3, or o2.

T-mobile provide the best and fastest mobile service but is most expensive.

3's service is cheapest, from £10/month without a contract.

  4. you can buy dongles that you plug into your usb ports from car phone warehouse but i think they are contract and expensive but you can get wireless internet on national express trains for free i have just done a 7hr train journey to inverness and had the internet most of the way why doesn't virgin trains and others do this great service

  5. You need a hub in your home to access the internet. Not unless you know your neighbours passwords.

Look on the bright side though, some Mc Donalds now have free wireless so im sure its only a short walk away.

  6. im not sure where but you can get a vodafone wireless thing which you can plug into the usb port and then after you set it up you can receive internet anywhere on earth
