Is there anyway to hook a cell phone to my direct tv box? No vonage, etc.?

I want to ditch my useless $30 a month landline. Right now all its good for is direct tv. GE has a phone that turns your cell phone into a landline - cell fusion. It uses bluetooth. Can this be used somehow? I don't have high speed or access to it, except by cell phone. Vonage, etc. is not an option.

  1. if you have tivo interface on your dvr there is a 5.00 charge if its not connected to the phone but they quit supporting any software updates for tivo units and still wanted to charge me. they eventually dropped the fee now, sometime in early 08 there is supposed to be a software update for tivo receivers. the tivo units will not update thru the satellite dish only the phone line.so all you have to do is take  it to a Friends house , plug into the phone line ,connect the video output to his TV and go to the set up menu and find the area where you have the reciever dial out ,sort of like they did when you got it new..it does not need to be connected to a dish  for this update..remember this is for tivo / directv rec. only.if you have a non tivo dvr the phone is not required

  2. I doubt it can be used for your box, but I wouldn't worry.  You don't HAVE to have a phone line hooked up.  All the phone line is for is to report back to DirectTV your PPV orders and so forth.  I have never had a phone line hooked up and just order PPV via the phone or the net.  I know Dish charges if you don't have a phone line hooked up but DTV does not.
